Are you looking for a support group? Great! The chapter offers you the opportunity to meet with other lupus patients on a monthly basis. Use this as a way to meet new people, discuss methods of coping and receive new insights into living with a chronic illness like lupus.
Not ready yet? Not sure if it’s right for you? Let me share with you some reasons why you might consider attending a support group.
1. If you are a newly diagnosed patient, go to meet people who have gone through the same thing as you. 2. If you have had lupus for years, go and share your wisdom and expertise. 3. If you feel great then go and share some of your optimism and suggestions with others who are not so fortunate. 4. If you are not sure about your treatments or if you have questions about symptoms you are experiencing, then go and compare notes with other patients. 5. If you think the meetings might be depressing, then go, you might meet someone who may be experiencing worse symptoms and find out that they are upbeat and positive. They might help you to learn better coping skills. 6. If you think that meetings are boring, you should go so that there is a new face with new ideas, which makes the meetings more exciting.
